Like every year, this is a great opportunity to see the best of the best surfers here in Portugal.

The third stage of the 2023 World Surf Circuit, the WSL MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal competition in Peniche, started on Saturday 11 September after a few days of waiting for the ideal conditions to begin. Four days of surfing, inspiration and incredible waves, especially on Sunday in their full effect at Praia de Supertubos.

The second day of the contest was thus marked by big waves and the fulfillment of the historical record of attendance, when 51 thousand fans came to watch.

The final day was a long one despite the overlapping heats. The highlight of the day was the victories of the names of the new generation – Joao Chianca and Caitlin Simmers. Brazil’s Joao Chianca defeated world circuit leader Jack Robinson from Australia. Only seventeen years old, the Californian, who entered the competition this year, showed tremendous will throughout the day, winning in the last five seconds over S. Mc Culloch to move on and bring the final day to her victory when she defeated Courtney Conlogue in the final.

The entire competition was in the spirit of tribute of International Women’s Day. The competitors chose the names of the prominent women of the sport’s world which they mentioned on their T-shirts. Remarkable gesture by the organization as an effort to promote women in sports.

Cool inspiring surfing experience!

Watch the best moments!
